Lungren Staff Fans Out Around Third District To Deliver Copies of the Majority's Health Care Bill PDF Print
New Boards, Bureaucracies, Commissions, and Programs Created

Gold River, CA - Staff members from Congressman Dan Lungren's (R-CA) office will be up early Tuesday to hand deliver paper copies of H.R. 3962 to libraries in Third District locations scattered around five different counties.   The copies will detail what is in the 1,990-page document -  weighing nearly 20 pounds - which will help constituents decide for themselves what they think of the health care reform bill being introduced by the Congressional Majority.

Lungren released the following statement:

"At a time of Trillion-dollar deficits, a time when the nation's unemployment rate is nearing 10 percent, California's is over12 percent and some Third District counties are experiencing unemployment levels over 14 percent, how can citizens bear the additional cost of $900 billion? Instead of trying to revamp the whole system all at once, let us strategically focus on the problem areas that will immediately show benefits in the system.

"The number one cause for concern is the unsustainable rise in health care costs; this bill does nothing but increase cost directly and indirectly on the American people. My constituents deserve to know how this will affect their bottom line now and in the future. That is why I believe it is necessary for my constituents to have access to the text of this bill.

"The majority of Americans like the health care coverage they have now, especially when faced with the alternative presented by the Democrats in Congress. At my office we're very serious about knowing what you think, though it seems to me Congress has a selective memory about the publics' feelings in August and September when we took calls and received overwhelming correspondence against a government regulated health care system."

Congressman Lungren will host a District Wide Tele-Town Hall on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 5:30pm PST and will be home in the District - after the vote on the Democrats health care bill- to hear constituent's thoughts at the Carmichael Town Hall at the La Sierra Community Center (John Smith Hall), 5325 Engle Road - at 7 p.m., Nov. 12.  In the interim, please give us a call or send us an e-mail to voice your opinion on this very important issue. .
