The FDA Western Center for Food Safety and Defense would be a cooperative research center with the Western Institute for Food Safety and Security at UC Davis and would address the food safety/security areas of focus identified by the FDA to be of greatest need in the Western United States.

Calaveras County Cosgrove Creek Flood Control Project
(US Army Corps of Engineers Priority Project)
The Cosgrove Creek Flood Control Project targets the diversion of flood flows and the expansion of environmentally beneficial flood plain storage to attenuate flooding.
Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency - American River Common Features ($13,000,000) (Co-request with the Sacramento Congressional Delegation) These funds will be used for design and construction of an additional slurry wall and levee strengthening along the American River, complete construction of work in the area of the Mayhew Drain, continued work on the Natomas Levee General Re-evaluation Report, and initiate review of levee improvements needed to achieve 200-year level of flood protection in the Pocket area.
Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency - Folsom Dam Outlet Modifications ($9,000,000) (Co-request with the Sacramento Congressional Delegation) This project will modify the existing Dam outlets reducing the chance of flooding in Sacramento. Project features consist of enlarging the eight existing river outlets, adding two new outlets, modifying an existing stilling basin, and modification of the dikes and emergency spillway gates at Folsom Dam.
Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency - Folsom Dam Raise Project ($1,000,000) (Co-request with the Sacramento Congressional Delegation) The Folsom Dam Raise Project would authorize the Corps to raise Folsom Dam, eight dikes, and Mormon Island Dam by about seven feet, improve the existing spillway gate system on the dam, address dam safety concerns, and construct a new permanent bridge downstream of the dam.
Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency - Sacramento River Bank Protection Project ($22,967,000) (Co-request with the Sacramento Congressional Delegation) The long- range program provides bank protection to the Sacramento River levees to help address a systemic erosion problem associated with the system design. The project solves and prevents levee erosion problems through revetment, revegetation, levee setbacks, and other means, while providing fish and wildlife mitigation features.
Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency - South Sacramento Streams Group ($12,000,000) (Co-request with the Sacramento Congressional Delegation) This project includes channel and levee improvements, detention facilities, ecosystem restoration and recreation features which will protect Sacramento from high water from the Mokelumne-Cosumnes River system as well as the Morrison Creek watershed.
City of Folsom - New Dam Below Folsom Bridge
Rio Vista Disaster Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Upgrade
($150,000) Description: The City of Rio Vista's current EOC does not have the required technology to meet today's demands. Funding of the required equipment would provide assurance that Rio Vista will be able to react quickly in the event of an emergency.
City of Galt - Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Upgrade
($275,000) The existing Waste Water Treatment Plant in the City of Galt was not designed to meet most of the new standards required by the new federal National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System(NPDES) act. Federal funds are requested to help offset the astronomical costs of building a new wastewater treatment facility to comply with federal water quality mandates.
Amador County - State Route 88 Pine Grove Corridor Improvement Project
($180,500) The purpose of this project is to construct a widening or a bypass through or around the community of Pine Grove to increase safety on California State Route 88, which services a significant amount of National Forest access.
City of Rancho Cordova - International Drive Extension/Folsom South Canal Bridge
(237,500) Folsom South Canal bisects the City of Rancho Cordova. This project will construct a new six-lane extension of International Drive from Kilgore Road to Sunrise Boulevard, crossing the Folsom South Canal.
($142,500) Disability access is limited in several indentified locations throughout the City. This funding will cover the cost of new ADA-compliant infrastructure.
