Lungren Votes To Protect Homeowners Against Predatory Lending

Rep. Lungren voted in support of the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act (H.R. 1728). The bill passed the House by a vote of 300-114.

An Important Day for U.S. Troops and the Iraqi People

Washington D.C. - Today Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA) released the following statement concerning the withdrawal of U.S. forces from major Iraqi cities. This marks an important milestone as the country's security forces take the lead in securing the Iraqi population in urban areas:

"Today is the day our armed forces turn over security operations, in major urban areas, solely to the Iraqis themselves.  Two years ago, the Iraqi Surge Strategy began. Its primary goal was to help increase the level of security in Bagdad and Al Anbar province. Violence has declined dramatically since then and today some 500,000 Iraqi police will command the streets. This day is an important step forward for the people of Iraq.

Americans Do Not Need Higher Energy Taxes

Washington, DC - U.S. Representative Dan Lungren (R-CA), made the following statement in opposition to the Majority's ill-conceived Cap and Trade legislation -H.R. 2454 - which will put a cap on the amount of carbon which can be emitted. Companies then buy and sell permits which allow them to emit carbon dioxide.

"We all can agree that the health of our environment is important. However, this cap and trade bill is not the answer to weaning ourselves off foreign oil or stopping green house gasses.  Depending on how the system is structured, the Tax Foundation estimates cap and trade could reduce U.S. employment by 965,000 jobs, household earnings by $37.8 billion, and economic output by $136 billion per year or roughly $1,145 per household.
